Piano Lessons and Performance Coaching
Jerry Gowen offers private piano instruction in all levels from beginning to advanced, including adults. He began teaching piano in 1973 and currently offers private lessons in piano in St. Simons Island, Georgia.
Jerry's principal piano teachers
include Robert E. Hill, Dell Hitchcock, Roger Cushman and Thomas
Brockman. In 1972, Gowen received a Bachelor of Music, cum laude, from
Stetson University, with further piano pedagogy study at Jacksonville
Jerry Gowen has formerly taught at Waycross College, judged at the Eighth District Music Festival and been a judge for the National Guild of Piano Teachers auditions. He is a member of the Music Teachers National Association and the Georgia Music Teachers Association.
For those who want to further
polish their performing and stage presentation skills, Jerry offers
performance coaching for voice and all musical instruments.
Gowen's performing experience
spans symphony orchestras to bluegrass bands across America and Europe.
His career as an accomplished pianist, accompanist, conductor, and
over 40 years in the music industry including over 7,000 hours of
onstage performance time. As a member of Opryland USA's and Dollywood's
audition teams, he has listened to hundreds of live auditions from
performers from all over the nation. Jerry is a member of the four
grand piano quartet, CristoFouri and is the pianist for St.
Episcopal Church, in Jesup, Georgia.
In the 25 years that Jerry worked
in Nashville, he was associated with many successful professional
